Back pain sucks!

Back Pain happens when your body system is not working the way it should. Often nerves trapped by joints or squeezed by tight muscles fire pain signals to the brain to let you know that something is wrong in the body system.

We live in a world today where a lot of our time is spent sitting. Sitting in cars, sitting at computers and sitting at desks… In fact, we spend so much time sitting hunched over computers that we are changing the ways our bodies function!

Let me explain how this happens…

When you sit for long periods of time your hip flexors (the muscles in front of your hips) shorten and remain in a shortened position.

Your head comes forward causing the muscles in the back of your neck to shorten and your shoulders roll forwards causing your muscles in your chest to shorten and the muscles between your shoulder blades to relax and switch off.

I call this Modern Day Posture Syndrome.

Because of Modern Day Posture Syndrome over 90% of people will have two things going on in their bodies: forward head posture forward pelvic tilt.

These are the two main causes of back and neck pain!

- forward head posture causes a lot of extra stress on the neck muscles holding up your head and your upper back. This can cause headaches and upper back pain

- forward pelvic tilt causes a lot of extra stress on your lower back muscles. This can cause lower back pain. ( Your centre of balance is affected by either or both FHD or FPT which causes a domino effect up or down)

So how do you fix it?
